Tutorial: Organizing Favorites in Folders, IE5 and IE6How to manage your bookmarked destinationsJuly, 2007
Target Reader: beginning or intermediate users with Microsoft IE6 browser on PC. Difficulty Level: easy. Time: 5 minutes plus practice time. Pre-requisite Skills: basic understanding of a web browser, ability to perform basic mouse control motions, and manage basic windows and dialog boxes. Part A) What It Looks Like To Organize Your IE5/IE6 Favorites Your IE screen will look like this during this procedure: Figure F-1: the Internet Explorer 5/6 Favorites screen. Part B) Step-by-Step Tutorial Step I: After you have collected enough favorites (aka "bookmarks") to merit some organizing, you choose one of two ways to start: either click the Favorites menu at the top of the screen, or display and use the Favorites Bar at the left of the screen. Step II: Choose Organize Favorites... Step III: There are now three sub-steps ahead for creating folders: (Refer to figure F-1. for visuals.) sub-step 1: Click create folder. sub-step 2: Drag and drop your Favorite icon into your new folder. sub-step 3: Confirm that your Favorite has an indented "nested" appearance like the About Digital Cameras example in figure F-1. Step IV: Repeat the above 3 sub-steps until you have moved all your favorites into folders that work for you. Technical note: you are allowed to create folders within folders. These subfolders will result in sub-menus and even more organization for you. The procedure is identical to the procedure above, just drag-and-drop your folders as you would your Favorites. Enjoy!
