What Does '.COM' Really Stand For?

Interestingly enough, the .com domain address does not mean "communication". Nor does it mean "computer". As straightforward as it is, most people have no idea what .com really signifies. About.com explains .com here...
Some people says .COM stands for “Communications” or “Computer” and I personally think that .COM actually stands for “Common”. Why it is because, most of the websites are commonly domain registered.
