Follow me on:

The Win32/Conficker.B Worm (aka "Downadup") worm continues to dig its way into Windows computers around the globe. Since its release in October of 2008, this nasty program has propogated to millions of computers that use Microsoft Windows. It is through the process called svchost.exe that this worm does its dirty deeds. Thus far, the payload has not been destructive, but that could change at any time. (1) EddiP says:

After downadup infects your computer, you can no longer download updates from Microsoft and most antivirus software vendors. One thing the virus does is block requests from you computer to these web sites. Alternative downloads can be found at downadup.com, along with tools for disabling AutoPlay, and repairing the registry.
